Shoulder

The shoulder is a complex structure made of three separate joints. They work together to give the shoulder a tremendous range of motion. The shoulder is made up of three bones; the humerus, the scapula and the clavicle. These bones meet at three joints; the glenohumeral joint, the acromioclavicular joint and the sternoclavicular joint. Lastly the shoulder contains the rotator cuff, which is a group of muscles and tendons and the subdeltoid bursa, a pocket of lubricating fluid which allows the muscles to move freely. 

 

The shoulder is not as stable as other joints in the body. It is prone to injuries such as dislocation and separation. Also, because the shoulder experiences so much wear and tear, osteoarthritis is a common problem in the shoulder. Explore other common disorders below.
