Foundation at Work
The Witham Health Services Foundation is dedicated to meeting the changing healthcare needs of our community by seeking philanthropic support for the development and improvement of Witham Health Services’ programs, facilities, technologies and services. Support from donors like you nurtures Witham Health Services’ mission of providing healthcare services that are accessible, cost-effective and of the highest quality with a strong commitment to preserving human dignity. Each year, gifts from our friends ensure that ongoing, day-to-day programs offered at Witham Health Services remain strong and at the same high level of excellence patients and the community expect and deserve. See more information about the programs we support below.
In 2017, the Witham Health Services Foundation raised funds for Witham Health Services Pediatrics Department to support the Reach Out and Read Program. Through this program, every child who visits Witham Pediatrics from six months to five year of age will receive an age appropriate book that is theirs to keep. In addition, our physicians will help teach parents to read aloud to their children. In February of 2018 the Foundation gave a donation of $39,756 to the Pediatrics Department to support this great program. The “sim lab” is a state-of-the-art training center that is located at Witham's main campus in Lebanon. The training center includes rooms that mimics a patient room, operating room, trauma center, pediatrics room and even houses the back of an ambulance to help train EMS personnel. A different hi-fidelity simulation manikin is inside each new training room. The simulation lab has completely changed how we train employees at Witham Health Services. The Simulation Lab was made possible by a generous donation from the Witham Health Services Foundation. If you are interested in contributing to Witham's future in training, click the Give Now button at the top of the page.
In 2019, the Witham Health Services Foundation received a $50,000 grant from the Williams L. Higgins Trust through the Community Foundation of Boone County to assist with a new walking trail that will encircle the Witham Campus. This trail will not only benefit our patients, visitors and employees here at Witham but will also be a beautiful place for the community to enjoy. The new trail at Witham will be named the Avalena Higgins Walking Trail and will include a beautiful new resting area on the North side of the hospital.
