Gift Options
Bequest
Give to the Witham Health Services Foundation without affecting your cash flow during your lifetime.
How it works
- You can provide now for a future gift to the Witham Health Services Foundation by including a bequest provision in your will or revocable trust.
- The Witham Health Services Foundation will allocate your gift, or you may direct your gift to a specific need.
Benefits
- Your assets remain in your control.
- A bequest is simple to establish.
- You can modify you bequest at your discretion.
- You can direct you bequest to a particular purpose.
- There is no upper limit on the estate tax deductions that can be taken for charitable bequests.
- You know that you gift will benefit Witham Health Services tomorrow just as you intend it today.
Charitable Gift Annuity - Immediate
Receive a fixed payout and significant tax benefits.
How it works
- You make a gift of cash or securities to the Witham Health Services Foundation.
- Witham Health Services Foundation pays you, or up to two individuals you name, quarterly payments for life.
- The remainder will be used by the Witham Health Services Foundation to support programs and services, or for a specific need you have designated.
Benefits
- You qualify for an immediate income tax deduction for a portion of your gift. This is because you receive a portion of your money in return as an annuity payment.
- A lifetime annuity is backed by the assets of the Witham Health Services Foundation.
- If appreciated assets are given, the annuity payments are generally treated as part ordinary income, part capital gains income and part tax-free income.
- You have the satisfaction of making a significant gift that benefits you and Witham Health Services.
Charitable Gift Annuity - Deferred
Build retirement earnings by deferring the onset of annuity payments (recommended for younger donors).
How it works
- You make a gift of cash or marketable securities to the Witham Health Services Foundation.
- Beginning at a designated date in the future, you or up to two individuals you name receive fixed payments for life.
- The remainder will be used by the Witham Health Services Foundation for programs and services, or for a specific need you have designated.
Benefits
- Deferral of payments permits a higher annuity rate and qualifies you for a larger charitable deduction.
- You can target you annuity payments to begin when you need them, such as retirement or when a grandchild needs help with tuition payments.
- The longer you defer payments, the higher the effective rate you will receive.
- You have the satisfaction of making a significant gift now that benefits both you and Witham Health Services later.
Charitable Remainder Unitrust
Make a large gift and create a flexible source of retirement income.
How it works
- You transfer cash, securities or other appreciated property into a trust.
- The trust pays a percentage of the value of its principal, which is re-valued annually, to you or to beneficiaries you name.
- When the trust terminates, the remainder is used by the Witham Health Services Foundation for programs and services, or for a specific need you have designated.
Benefits
- You qualify for an immediate income tax deduction for a portion of your contribution to the unitrust.
- You bypass capital gains tax on appreciated assets you contribute.
- You or your designated beneficiaries receive income for life or a term of years.
- You can make additional gifts to the trust as your circumstances allow and qualify for additional tax deductions.
- You have the satisfaction of making a significant gift that benefits you and Witham Health Services.
