Witham announces temporary inpatient visitor restrictions due to increasing respiratory pathogens
December 23, 2024Due to an increasing number of cases of respiratory pathogens in our community, Witham Health Services has implemented temporary inpatient visitor restrictions beginning December 23.
Guests experiencing fever, cough, headache, muscle and joint pain, sore throat or runny nose will not be allowed to visit inpatient units. Exemptions may be considered for end of life or for special considerations. Visitors will be required to wear a mask in some situations (e.g. when visiting a patient in isolation). Masks are available at registration desks for all patients and visitors wishing to wear them inside Witham facilities.
These temporary restrictions are designed to help protect the most vulnerable patients from respiratory pathogens. They will be evaluated weekly and are subject to change based on our community incidence of respiratory illnesses. Witham encourages everyone to observe the standard practice of washing hands and covering coughs and sneezes.
