Witham's Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation program offers outpatient services to patients recovering from heart and lung diseases. Cardiopulmonary rehabilitation (Phase II) is generally a 12 week structured program of exercise and education to assist individuals obtain maximum function. Sessions last one hour, three days per week.
Treatment goals are individualized, with monitoring of heart rate and rhythm, blood oxygen levels, and perceived exertion occuring at each visit. Physician referral is required to enroll in the program and certain diagnostic or symptom criteria apply. Payment by insurance for cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation services depends upon the individual’s insurance policy. Insurance coverage will be verified prior to participation.
Diagnoses generally eligible to participate in cardiac rehabilitation:
- Myocardial infarction
- Coronary artery bypass surgery
- Angioplasty or stent placement
- Congestive heart failure
- Cardiac transplant
- Other cardiac surgery
Diagnoses generally eligible to participate in pulmonary rehabilitation:
- Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
- Chronic bronchitis
- Pulmonary fibrosis
- Cystic fibrosis
- Lung surgery and lung transplant
In addition to the Phase II program, we offer an adult fitness program for individuals who have completed their insurance-covered portion yet wish to continue exercising in a safe environment. Self-pay for participation is on a monthly basis and is offered at alternate times to the Phase II program.
